There are still spaces in both workshops.

Once again by popular demand, I am offering 3 Day Workshop Retreats in Santa Fe, New Mexico - the City Different in the Land of Enchantment.

Our emphasis will be on learning, creating, comraderie, convenience, and affordability. Both workshops will include a wealth of classroom time, and field trips to local sources of inspiration - to take photographs and gather content for our classroom activities.

Two workshops will be offered in 2007:
The Art of the Art Journal

Handmade Books for Artists

They are scheduled on adjacent weekends so that students could stay for both if desired and spend the four days between enjoying the artist’s paradise that is Santa Fe. The tandem workshops will be offered in September.

Class size will vary from 5 to 20. Remember that in smaller Groups, YOU get more attention.

Our classroom will be available 24 hours/day in case you want to work after hours on your projects, or gather for some creative chit-chat with friends.

All Workshop Weekends begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday and end at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Handmade Book workshop iincludes and optional studio day on Monday to give students one more day with the instructor to finish projects. Thursday evening, a complimentary supper party will be held in the onsite classroom for the purposes of meeting each other and getting started on our weekend activities.

Hotel Venue
I had originally set up this schedule with the Sleep Inn here in Santa Fe because of convenient location and parking, reasonable room rates, a great classroom, and free continental breakfast. When I called to confirm before posting to the website, I found that the manager I had dealt with no longer worked there, and it was no longer a Sleep Inn! (You can’t imagine what retreat coordinators go through dealing with hotels!)

The good news is that the rates are still reasonable, the classroom is still great, and some wonderful amenities have been added. A full, hot breakfast, and a Manager's reception in the afternoon have been added which are complimentary for guests. Our classroom will now have doors that open onto the pool area, so we can take breaks outside. All rooms are being upgraded with flat screen TVs, new beds, marble tile, etc. (the building is only a couple of years old to begin with!)

Rates for June and September will be $99/night (plus tax), single OR double. September is considered high season here in Santa Fe and this a very reasonable rate for in-season.

Bring a friend and share a room, and this becomes really affordable - even at the height of the tourist season.

Click the logo to visit the hotel website, and call them direct to make reservations.

Tell them you are with the Cre8it Art Retreats to get our special rate.
Our retreats should be logged in their computer by December 9, 2006.

Directions are very simple - just take the Santa Fe exit for Cerrillos Road:

Note:
Air travelers must fly into Albuquerque International Airport.

Shuttle service and rental cars are available from many companies located near Baggage Claim.

Miscellaneous Notes
Dress in layers during all seasons. Even summer evenings can be cool enough for a light jacket.

We are at an elevation of 7000 feet in the Southern Rockies. Our climate is moderate - no extreme heat in Summer or extreme cold in Winter.

Santa Fe is the #2 favorite destination for travelers worldwide - especially artists. Once you are here, try to give yourself a little non-workshop time for exploring Santa Fe if possible. It’s a hard place to leave. Your special room rate will be honored for the entirety of your stay.
