Cappucino Lamp Project
This lamp was done for fun - just to see how far we could take the coffee theme. Even coffee beans became beads for this project! It starts with our Lamp-In-A-Bag luminaria kit.

You will need:

Cre8it! Sheer Heaven Luminaria Kit

Posh Impressions - Dee's Duets Coffee Cup
(we used the outline stamp only) or coffee cup stamp of your choice.

Pot of coffee (cooled)

Envelope of instant cappucino mix

Several whole, nicely shaped coffee beans

Plastic container large enough to hold lamp shade flat. We found great seed trays just the right size at the garden center for 79¢
(you can use a bucket and stand the shade upright to dye it but you will need 2+ pots of coffee)

Colored Pencils (your choice of colors)

Scissors

Small paint brush

Dremel tool with 1/16" bit or hand-held bead drill

Vinyl covered colored wire (to match your pencil colors)

Grommets and grommet tools (optional)

1/8" hole punch (if not using grommet tools)

Xyron machine with adhesive cartridge or other double-sided adhesive

Instructions:

Step 1
Pour the cooled coffee into the plastic container. Submerge the shade, suede side up, making sure it is completely covered, and go on to step two.

Step 2
Stamp the coffee cup outline seven times on the extra sheet of Sheer Heaven with dark brown pigment or dye ink. Let dry and color each cup with your colored pencils, the brighter, the better. Use shading to give them dimension. Mix one packet of instant cappucino mix with half the amount of boiling water called for. Let cool a little and paint the “cappucino” in each cup using a paintbrush. Let dry.

Step 3
Remove your shade from the coffee dye, rinse under running water and lay it on paper toweling to dry. Keep the suede side up. Meanwhile, carefully cut out your colored cups of cappucino and run them through a Xyron machine or put some type of double stick adhesive on the backside of each. When the shade is dry, stick the coffee cups to it - 3 on the front and two on each side. Fold and tape the shade according to the lamp kit instructions so it is free standing.

Step 4
Drill a tiny hole in 8 whole coffee beans making them into beads (don't hold the bean with your fingers while drilling!) Punch a small hole on each side of each front corner of your shade. Install grommets. Feed a 6” to 8” piece of blue wire through the corner holes and twist the ends around a pencil to curl them. Curl four more lengths of wire (different colors, different lengths) and hang the from the end loops of the blue wire. Close the loops so they will not fall off. Feed a coffee bean bead onto the end of each hanging wire and close the loop to hold it. Repeat the entire procedure on the opposite corner varying the colors of the wire. Light the lamp following lamp kit instructions. Bend and arrange the curled wires to get a festive look as shown. Have a cappucino and celebrate this moment of your life!
