| Crayon Batik
This is a greatly simplified version of the wonderful art of batik. Use a white, clear, (or any color) crayon to draw designs or illustrations on Sheer Heaven.
Make an acrylic or watercolor dye by adding liquid paint to water to get a shade deeper than your desired finished color. We like to use the liquid acrylics inks or the liquid watercolors by Dr. Martin.
If your sheet is small, you can use a large water glass to do your dying. If it is a larger sheet, use a cake pan or similar container and make sure your dye is at least 1/2" deep in the pan so the Sheer Heaven will be covered.
Lay the sheet of Sheer Heaven in the dye with the right side up and let it soak until the desire shade is reached. Remove it from the dye and rinse it thoroughly under running water to remove any rersidual dye.
Then lay it right side up on a paper towel to dry. Your crayon design will be unaffected by the dye bath.
Try using coffee for a monochrome batik.
