Who doesn’t love to collect beautiful stones? Tumbled and polished semi-precious stones are gorgeous pieces of “art” themselves, and they also make great embellishments for your creations. In addition to their natural beauty, many people think they symbolize some of the “energies” of the earth, so, if you believe in that sort of thing, they can add even more to your work. Semi-precious stones are also associated with Zodiac signs, and are good for embellishing birthday gifts or greetings. They make a great gift themselves - presented in a beautifully decorated box or pouch.

The trouble with getting your hands on some great specimens is that you usually have to buy them by the pound and you aren’t allowed to “cherry pick” the prettiest stones. However, I was able to spend several hours in Tucson recently with the best tumbled stone man on the planet (not just my opinion). I sat on the floor and literally hand picked every one of these stones - choosing them for their beauty as art objects in their own right, and for their potential as embellishments for collage, boxes, bottles, etc. If you want some of this bounty, get them now, because when they are gone, they are gone until next year.
Variegated lines of ochres, adobe colors, and earthy browns suggest the landscapes of the desert Southwest. Now and then, there's a crease that is actually gray but looks like turquoise when the light hits it a certain way (as in this picture).

The Aventurine you see most often is a dull dark green color, but once in awhile, you can run into light mint green or mauve that is just chock full of tiny mica chips - just like it's filled with silver glitter. This is so sparkly, the photo can't do it justice.

These tag beads are natural stone -smoothed to a beautiful matte finish and vary between 1 and 2 inches in length. Width is approx. 1/2 inch. Shapes will vary.

The surface may be stamped and embossed with tiny images or letters. There is a drill hole at the top of each tag bead.

If you are buying more than one bead, please indicate if you wish them to be similar length and we will oblige if possible.

These are New Mexico's own golden willow and salt cedar and what makes them great for art is that there are no side branches so they are straighter and smoother than the sticks you find at home. They grow in the bosques (wet lands - yes we do have those), are gathered by people who then sell them to us, and we make them available to you.
