When I first held my iPad in my hands, I felt the earth move - like when I met my husband - no, wait. . . that was an earthquake, actually.

Anyway, earth-moving is a phrase usually reserved for great love or bulldozers, both of which can have a substantial impact on your life. But when I first held that tablet. I felt a quantum shift in my operating system, and knew that the ways I create would be changed from then on.

That was a year ago, and I have spent that year on a quest - to learn to do ALL my studio work on the iPad - and make it look the same as my real life stuff. Exactly the same - or better. My sketching, inking, water media painting, oil and acrylic painting, image altering, photo art, art journaling, pastels, book writing, collage, and design (the workshop logo at the left is 100% iPad created).

100 million Apps were downoaded from the App store last year, and I helped with that. I downloaded and purchased EVERY app that had anything to do with my multi-media life, and put them through the research wringer. I almost lost my mind - especially trying to replicate my Moleskine art journaling.(No, the Moleskine App was not the answer.)

There was SO MUCH possibility and SO MUCH information, and NO guidance. Apps are changing the world of software. They are incredibly rich in features, incredibly inexpensive (ok, dirt cheap), or even free. But, in exchange for that, there is almost no documentation. If there is a User's Guide, it is probably a one-page cartoon, and the app interfaces are quite mysterious. Keeping track of which app does what, and how, gave me brain freeze more than once.

But I have done it. Instead of hauling suitcases of art supplies everywhere I go, I now just need my iPad and stylus.

And I am ready to share everything I learned with you!

How this Workshop "Works"

The workshop runs from February 15, 2012 through the end of 2012.

Every 15th of the month, you will receive a PDF workbook chock full of info, demos, step-by-steps, app mini-manuals, how-tos, how-not-tos, etc. Everything you need to know - in detail.

You will have a whole month to digest, learn and use the workbook lessons.

We will run our workshop in a closed Yahoo Group classroom which will allow us to share the artwork we do, ask the questions that come up, and form a community of friends (like we do in all my workshops). I will be available in the classroom for the whole workshop. You always say you don't want my workshops to end. Well, this one won't end for a year! By New Years Eve, 2012, you will be an iPad art afficionado.

The 11 iPad Workbooks used in this workshop will eventually be published as eBooks priced at $18 each. By taking this workshop, you get them sooner and save almost $75.

Supply List:

Apple iPad (any model running the latest iOS)

Stylus (see FAQs below)

Various Apps which will be suggested as we go along. All are either free, or very inexpensive (ok - dirt cheap).

Note: When my furnace expansion tank started leaking. I painted the situation on my iPad (right) - to get my mind off the cost of fixing it! Looks just like my watermedia work on paper, doesn't it?

FAQs

Is there any other workshop remotely like this?

No, I am pioneering once again. Go ahead - search for iPad art workshops.

What if I don't have an iPad yet?

You can take the workshop anyway - it wll certainly accelerate your getting an iPad when you start understanding what it can do! Or, if you are waiting for a new model or saving enough money, you can sign-up at any time during 2012. The Workbooks you missed will be there waiting for you, and so will all the shared info from students already there.

What Stylus do you recommend?

Until very recently, my favorite stylus was the type with the round rubber end. I find the sponge tip kind too squishy. For awhile, I liked the kind with the round, clear disk on the tip for its accuracy, but later found the round rubber tip to be more like using a pencil or brush. My current favorite (Aponyo Click retractible) has the same kind of tip as the round rubber, only covered with a special fabric. Wonderful because there is *no* drag on the screen at all. Here it is at Amazon.. We will discuss Styluses, how they work etc. in the workshop.

I have questions. Where can I get answers?
