Update on our Sunrise at Santa Fe Creativity Retreat:
Though we have filled-up twice already (only 36 spaces were available), health and family circumstances have forced a few cancellations, so there are still a very limited number of spaces in the Spring Retreat. Vesta and I have also decided to offer a “rerun” of this retreat during the last weekend in October, for those who could not travel for one reason or another this Spring. To sign up for either the Spring or Autumn Sunrise, or to learn more about them, click on the logo below to visit our Retreat website. Ignore deadline dates for April fees as they have passed and fees would be due upon sign-up. Deadlines for the October Retreat have not yet been posted.
And then, in August . . . ART UNRAVELED!
It broke my heart to miss the first Art Unraveled event in Phoenix last August (when my fur kid, Raven, decided to break her other knee) - especially when I heard the rave reviews afterward. So, I told Linda Young (the creative genius behind this event) that I wouldn’t miss the second one for certain! And, furthermore, I wanted to offer one of my most exciting workshops as part of her line-up. I will also be taking the full Cre8it product line to the vendor event on Saturday, August 28 (something I almost never do).

When I first saw the line-up of teachers for Art Unraveled 2004, I couldn’t believe the company I’d be in! All these incredible people in one place at one time! And so many workshops! Here’s just a teaser: Claudine Hellmuth, Rice Freeman-Zachery, Karen Michel, Julianna Coles, Kelly Kilmer . . . Visit the Art Unraveled website to get the whole picture.

We plan a more in-depth review of this fantastic event in our next issue - we want to take a look at some of the great art pieces from the workshops too - but for now, I want to tell you all about my workshop in case you would like to join me there. The following is the description from the Art Unraveled website. I would love to meet Now What? readers at Art Unraveled.

The Dead Poet's Society (Workshop)
Let's go backwards in this description and start at the end of this full day workshop. You are leaving. You have a big, proud smile on your face, and what are you carrying in your arms?

A gorgeous, gallery-quality, assemblage art piece - ready to hang. On it is a “Society” of four art dolls, who together present your favorite four-line quote from a famous “Dead Poet”. They gleam with pure elegance.

In your bag is a full Red Letter TypeSetting Alphabet and Letter Setter from Cre8it! ($40 value) And . . . a set of design stamps, especially made for this type of project, but very useful for everything else you do. ($25 value).

But wait, that's more than half of the workshop fee!

Too good to be true, but true, nevertheless.

We will learn many multi-media techniques in this workshop while creating a piece so beautiful you will amaze yourself: faux painting and other background techniques, bead making, polymer clay glazing, how to create an antique tooled copper using paper materials, among others.

Please Bring:

A high quality rubber cutting scissors (like Kai for example. You will trim your brand new alphabet and design stamp set.)

A roll of Scotch double stick tape or removable double stick poster tape.

Jewelry Pliers: Round-nosed and channel-nosed

All other art supplies are included but please bring the tools listed above.

If this sounds good to you, go visit the Art Unraveled Website, sign-up, and we’ll see you there!
