| I’m biased and willing to admit it. Linda Young is a friend of mine, and knowing something of the effort and amazing energy expended behind the scenes, I am really impressed with everything about this retreat. Sure it’s in August in Phoenix, but aside from being a little hot outside, it is a totally comfortable, inspiring, and fun event - held in an air-conditioned resort. The line-up of teachers is stellar, and the activities and opportunities for artisitic socializing abound. I am very excited to be going, to be teaching, and to be taking a workshop.
One of the most impressive things about the workshops is their variety, and unlike most other retreats, you can pick and choose as few or as many as you want. My workshop has long been filled and I wish I had offered more than one actually, but I just went through the Art Unraveled (www.artunraveled.com) site to see what might still be availabale to tell you about. These are some I wish I had the time to take. Visit the website to get more details on the workshops. And I hope I see you there! |

| Expose Yourself . . . To Pinhole Photography Richard Salley |
I have always found the concept of pinhole photography fascinating for its other-worldly, arty look, but, in this age of digital cameras and modern complications, the idea that you can take a marvelous photo using an oatmeal box with no lens is, well, charming to say the least.
And there’s no more basic way to learn the basics of photography - like exposure, for example. Richard Salley is a master of this genre - and he is also a fabulous jeweler who will be showing his work at Art Unraveled. |

| Reviving the Fine Art of Corresponence Lisa Pavelka |
Imagine if you opened your mailbox, and amongst all the credit card offers and “Vote for Joe” flyers, there was a beautiful piece of polymer clay art. That’s the kind of treat you could send your friends after taking this workshop.
Lisa, who we all know is a master of the polyclay medium, will teach you how to create cards and stationery - using all kinds of polymer clay techniques - that you can actually send through the mail. What a delightful respite from our lives filled with email! |

Dream More - Art Quilt Olivia Thomas |

| Design you own fabric!
You will learn and use a “wealth” of techniques and textures doing that and then combining your fabric with commercial choices to create a unique piece of art. You even learn an unusual technique for making fabric beads to embellish the piece. This sounds like a whole new direction for you collage fans. |
