I had an idea:

I could draw and paint - and nobody understands my art anyway (even me).

So there was a perfectly safe way to explore myself.

I would draw pictures and use only a few words.

An “artist journal” - yes. Not a new idea, but new to me.

But, somehow, I just couldn’t get started.

I thought that if I just had the perfect book and the perfect paints and brushes and pens and pencils, it would all start to flow, I kept trying to find that perfect combination. But this type of paper wasn’t right and that type of pen didn’t work, and I couldn’t draw over lined pages or write straight on blank pages.

And I was very frustrated. But I did learn something about myself.

I am a good collector of blank books and art supplies - and a great procrastinator.

What was really holding me back? Did I not want to get to know myself?

Would I like me?

Should I meet myself and find out?

Yes, that would be a very good thing to do.

Once that issue was resolved, I quickly came up with a way to have the perfect journals and to make the perfect pages to suit my mood - lines for writing, blank spaces for drawing - anything my heart desired.

And even, the perfect portable painting palette with all my colors on it.

And I’m happy to share those ideas with you - right here and now . . .
