You opened Photoshop Elements, took a look around, poked at a few things, got lost, shut off the computer, and ran.

If you didn't run right away. You stayed and poked around some more, and some things happened. But just as you thought you were getting somewhere, other things happened and you didn't know why. In fact, you didn't *really* know why those first things happened.

If you haven't bought Elements but you want to because you have seen or heard of all the cool things it can do.

If you use Elements sometimes, but if asked if you knew what you were doing, or had comfort with the program, you would say "No!".

What you will learn . . .
Photoshop Elements is used to work with photographs, and to create art from scratch. You will learn a little about both.

You will learn the basic operations of Photoshop and how and why they work the way they do. While learning, you will complete some projects so you can see these operations applied to something useful - something you might want to do in the future in different variations.

You will learn these things in the safety of a virtual classroom where you can ask all the questions you want without feeling dumb, and share your experiences with other students, and even vent if you get frustrated. This is kindergarten, after all - we may even have virtual cookies and milk!

Photoshop Elements Any recent version will do. The workshop is written using screenshots from Photosop Elements 9.0 which is finally the same for both PC and Mac. It is available at a very good price and has some great new features. However, we will be studying Photoshop masic operations in this workshop - which are included in all versions, but the interface may look a little different in older versions.

Adobe Reader or Preview(Mac) This is free software which is used to read and print your PDF Lessons.

Note: Photoshop Elements ships with another program called Organizer. Because I do not care for the way it works, because its features vary greatly between Mac and PC, and because it can be very confusing to many users, it is not a part of this workshop. We will work with the real "Photoshop" part of the software which is the Editor portion.
