Finally! Contemporary images you can safely use in your art - even if you sell or publish your work!
Stock photography is not a new idea. Image banks (also called stock agencies) have long been available to graphics and advertising professionals, but the cost to use a single image for even a single purpose might run to several thousand dollars. Many of the photos you see in magazines - the ones you wish you could use in your collages, books, etc. come from these agencies. And, without purchasing the rights, you can’t use the image.

Copyright Law may be the most confusing thing in the art world, so the best way to avoid trouble has been to stick to images from the public domain - images which have outlived their copyright protection. The problem is, by definition, these are “old” images - lacking the colors and content of modern life.

Now, at long last, there is a “stock agency” for the paper arts. The Art Safe image bank is especially intended for collage, altered and handmade book artists, painters, mixed-media and digital artists, card makers and scrapbookers - and this stock agency is very affordable.

HOWEVER, it is important to understand that these images are NOT “COPYRIGHT-FREE”!

By purchasing a CD of these images, you are purchasing “licensed” rights to use the art. Those rights are very liberal and you can find all the details about what you can and cannot do in the Licensing Agreement. Click below:

Our image CDs are priced to compare with music CDs ($18) so they will be easy to collect, and you will always have the image you need for the project at hand.

Purchasing multiple CDs at one time can result in savings of $15 to $40. The Five CD Bundle is $75 and the Ten CD Bundle is only $140.

Each CD contains at least 24 images, all high resolution (300dpi), high quality TIFF files, and most are between 4"x6" and 5"x7" in size. This resolution means they will print beautifully even if you enlarge them.

They can be opened and printed as is, or imported into any word processing or page layout program that accepts TIFF files (most do), and sized to suit your project.

Or, if you are adventurous, you can open the image in PhotoShop Elements, PhotoShop, or another image editing program and play with it - changing the size, colors, resolution, or cropping to suit whatever project you have in mind. You may even combine the images digitally into collages. (Make sure you work on a copy and save the original for future use.)

The Copyrights to all images, owned by Jessica Wesolek of Santa Fe, New Mexico, remain fully in effect, and are not negated nor diminished by the granting of these licensing rights.
