| We have suggested ways to use our Art Safe Images in your art and divided them into areas of interest below. Obviously, there is a good bit of overlap in these areas, so it’s a good idea to read through all the suggestions. We know we haven’t scratched the surface of possibilities and would love to hear your suggestions as well.
Appreciators of Fine Art Photography:
Can print the images out, mat and frame them, and hang them on the wall. Or even give framed prints away as gifts. However, our Credit/Copyright must be on the back of the mat or frame as follows: Photography ©Jessica Wesolek/Cre8it.com, Santa Fe, NM. Of, course, you cannot sell framed prints of our photographs, but your conscience already told you that, right?
And it is not ok to give just the prints or copies of the image files as a gift to someone else. Our image must be only part of the gift - which is true in the case of a framed print.
Collage Artists:
Can print the images out in any size and on any paper that best suits their collage project. They can alter the images to suit their project. The resulting collage project can be sold or published without worrying. Of course, there has to be other stuff in the collage besides our image. And, if our unaltered and recognizable image constitutes more than 50% of the collage, that’s ok too, but our photo copyright must be on the back of the piece. (This protects us from someone else picking up our image from your collage and thinking it is copyright-free).
Stampers and Card Artists:
Some of our images make great backgrounds for scenic stamping. Since your stamping would constitute the Main Illustration of the card, no Credit/Copyright would be necessary.
Most of our images make beautiful notecards - you can stamp words or sentiments and layer with coordinating papers. You stamp borders around the image. If our image is used as the main illustration this way, you must put this on the back of the card: Photography ©Jessica Wesolek/Cre8it.com, Santa Fe, NM.
Handmade and Altered Book Artists:
Sometimes we have a great idea for a themed book but gathering enough artful images on the theme is a problem. Suppose you have a collection of wonderful quotes about passages in life and want to illustrate them and bind them into a beautiful book. If you owned our “Doors” CD Collection, you would have 24 intriguing door images to choose from to illustrate the concept of passing from here to there, or unknown possibilities. This type of use would require our Credit/Copyright line to be present somewhere in the book (Photography ©Jessica Wesolek/Cre8it.com, Santa Fe, NM), but with that in place, you would be free to sell your book if you wished.
And sticking with the “Doors” collection, Altered Book artists not only try often to stick to the original theme of the book they are altering and could use themed illustrations, but they are forever cutting niches in the books and making interactive little doors that open. Many of our Door images are perfect for that application, and would be “altered” enough in the process not to need the Credit/Copyright line.
Art Journalers:
Can use the images as elements and/or prompts for pages. Extend the image by drawing or painting what isn’t there. Cut it up and rearrange the pieces. Choose a particularly narrative image and write the story it suggests to you. Print out the images screened very light to serve as the background of pages to write on, in a “blank” journal you make yourself.
Painters:
Many painters like to work from photographs and don’t always have photographs they like. It is okay to paint even an exact copy of our photos as long as Credit/Copyright is on the back worded thus: Inspired By A Photograph: ©Jessica Wesolek/Cre8it.com, Santa Fe, NM.
This is not necessary if you use bits and pieces from different photos and combine them so they no longer resemble any particular single photograph of ours.
Crafters:
Art Safe images can be decoupaged, transferred, used as patterns, printed on shrink art, made into lamp shades and even jewelry, printed on fabric and quilted - the list is as long as the list of the various crafts popular these days.
Digital Artists:
Our images are wonderful for PhotoShop compositing, photo montage, and collage. You may alter and combine the images in any way you need to suit your purpose, and need not credit the source photos unless they constitute more than 50% of the art. As our collection grows, we will be adding images specifically collected for compositing.
Digital Authors:
We totally support the ongoing education of artists and photographers in digital skills. If you are an author of instructional computer art books, and would like to use our images as samples in your tutorials, please contact us as we will be glad to cooperate with such usage.
Scrapbookers:
Whether you are doing your scrapbook pages digitally or real-world, you may often have a need for an image that is not in your own photo library. Art Safe images are the perfect solution, and since scrapbooks are personal in nature, no Credit/Copyright is necessary.
