As those of you who belong to my Yahoo Announcement Group already know, I was sidelined by a broken hip in March, and forced to slow down and fly more carefully. If you missed the story, it is here in my online journal: http://www.cre8it.com/artblog/051706.html I have recently been pronounced “healed” by the medical folks, and now I just need to learn not to walk like Grandpappy Amos of the Real McCoys (remember?). Not so easy! This Spring Issue of Whatever was already in the works at the time of the big fall, so it was waiting for me when I was able to get back into the studio. But Spring is almost “sprung”, so I must get this and the Spring Issue of Now What? magazine out the door. |

| We have to say we are really disappointed that only 1040 of the 6000+ readers on our free subscription list were willing to take the trouble to join our Yahoo Announcement Group as we requested last issue. So, our computer has to spend three days again this issue to send the publication notice to all of you. What to do about this?
We are going to stoop, unashamed, to bribery. Beginning with this issue, we are going to give stuff away that will help you with the projects - but will be posting them in the Files section of the Announcement Group, where they can be downloaded and printed out by any member. If you want them, you must join. This issue, there are free butterflies to print. You can join right now, from here, and then just close the window and you will be right back on this page. Here is the link again: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cre8itartblog/ Just click “Join This Group”. Easy as pie. Help us keep this free art magazine as painless as possible. Now, let’s get to some of these Spring projects before Spring is over! |

These butterflies have all recently landed on my stainless steel magnet board, but they might be attracted to any surface that a magnet would be. That ethereal (heavenly) “glow” is what attracts you to them, and that is the result of them being made of Sheer Heaven. If you have purchased the recently released Virtual Stamping 102 (see the announcement later in this issue), you already have both of these butterfly images - and the complete tutorial for coloring them this way with your computer. A printable page of butterflies is also available as Free Stuff.(File Section) |

| Image Options: You can use rubber stamp butterfly images, but make sure it is ok with the manufacturer to scan and resize them. Then scan and resize them to 3 or 4 inches across, and print them on Sheer Heaven and paint or color them. Make sure to use waterproof pigment inks if you plan to use waterbased paints. Any inkjet ink is okay for chalks, colored pencils and other dry media. You can also trace butterflies onto Sheer Heaven with Ultra-Fine Sharpie Marker, which has permanent ink, and then paint them. However you do it, start with your butterflies printed and colored on Sheer Heaven. Other Tools and Supplies Adhesive backed magnet material (like they sell at office supply stores for making magnets of your business cards, available also in the craft stores) Thin black Wire (24 or 26 gauge), Wire Cutters (optional because wire this thin can be cut with scissors) and Round Nose Jewelry Pliers. |
