Step 1.
Once your butterflies are printed and colored on Sheer Heaven, trim roughly around them.

In precision cutting, it is always easier to work with a smaller piece of paper so you can use some of the accurate cutting tricks - like turning the paper instead of the scissors, and cutting in from the edge of the paper when necessary.

Step 2.
Unless you are some kind of afficiando with a scissors, which we are not, you will have to cut the antennae off the butterflies rather than try to cut around them.

We know butterflies need these antennae for navigation, but before you run off to call Butterfly Rescue, rest assured that we will give them replacements that are even better.

Step 3.
When each butterfly is cut out, turn it face down, and score a line along each side of the body with a bone folder.

Although we want the wings to fold up, we cannot score on the front because we could scratch off some of the ink.

Step 4.
Turn the butterflies right side up and gently use your fingers to bend the wings upward to make them look more real.

Step 5.
Cut a 4 inch length of black wire for each butterfly.

24 gauge wire is ok, but if you have a choice of 24 or 26, use the 26 because it will fasten more easily to the butterfly body.

Step 6.
Make a loop in the center of each wire piece about 1/4 long and then twist 4 turns as shown.

Flatten the loop and wire as much as possible.
